The Rebozo
Overview
A rebozo is a long rectangular fabric, typically measuring between 24”x60” and 36”x96”. Traditionally worn by Mexican women, rebozos serve various purposes—from utility to celebration, and even as symbols of matriarchy. This versatile fabric can be created through weaving, knitting, or crocheting, using a variety of organic or synthetic strands.
Our office has explored numerous techniques and materials to produce a diverse range of rebozos. The practice of creating these rebozos connects us deeply to our Mexican heritage and honors our proud mothers and grandmothers who paved the way for us in the United States, giving us the chance for a better life.
This is dedicated to you, Dona Maria Santos Del Real.
